Q: What to Wear on Picture Day
A: Wear solid colors, preferably more subdued colors that enhance skin tones and don’t detract from the child’s expression. Be careful. Bright colors really jump out and can compete against flesh tones. We recommend long or short-sleeved tops and we recommend avoiding sleeveless clothing.

    Q: Wearing Accessories
A: Choose accessories that won't detract from your portrait. Simple earrings, necklaces, and hair adornments are timeless and usually do enhance a portrait.

Q: What is a Fashion Filter?
A: Fashion Filter is a popular technique used by photographers to soften facial blemishes and enhance your portrait. The photographer applies this technique when your portrait is taken. It is not a retouch and will not completely remove blemishes.

Q: What is a copyright release?
A: Even though you may purchase school portraits of your child, the original image remains the property of Splendid Portraits. This original image cannot be photocopied or reproduced in any way without the company's written consent because it’s against the Federal Copyright Laws. For a small fee on picture day, you may purchase a Copyright Release and reproduce the image for your own personal use. Check your Picture Order Envelope for ordering instructions.

Q: How will I know picture day is coming?
A: Your school will distribute Picture Order Envelopes and Reminder Notices one or two weeks before picture day. There will also be Bulletin Board Posters hung around the school. Most schools also publicize Picture Day in school newsletters, school calendars and during morning announcements.

Q: How does the Prepay Program work?
A: Picture Order Envelopes are sent home to parents one to two weeks prior to Picture Day. Parents select a picture package and return the completed Picture Order Envelope with payment to their child's teacher before picture day. Your child's teacher will bring the Picture Order Envelope to the photographer and the picture package you requested will be printed.

Finished pictures will be delivered back to your school within four weeks of picture day. Additional copies of your portraits can be reordered online or using our Mail-in Reorder Form.

Q: What if I don’t like my picture?
A: All of our portraits are Satisfaction Guaranteed, so relax and take advantage of the most convenient way to order professional portraits of your children.

Q: How does the Non-Prepay Program work?
A: Some portrait packages are printed on a "speculation basis". This means that you get to review the pictures before you opt to purchase them. Select the pictures you wish to purchase. Then return payment, along with any pictures you do not want, to your child's teacher. Your school tracks the returns so make sure your child's name is on the Picture Payment Envelope.

    Q: Methods of Payment...
A: Checks, money orders and cash are accepted. Credit card payment may be available, depending upon the time of the year. Check your Picture Order Envelope for the payment options available to you.

Q: Should my child wear glasses for the picture?
A: If your child wears glasses most of the time, then by all means, have them photographed in their glasses. We will adjust our lights to minimize reflection in the lenses.

Q: Will you comb my child's hair?
A: We'll have plenty of combs and adult helpers on hand to prepare your child for the picture.
